nschutten It's moving in multiple ways :-)
I also love the notion that it's built using a self-contained modular system, so no presets, just musicality. Favorite track: Cassini.

about

This release is a collection of generative synthesizer patches created using the Make Noise Black & Gold Shared System, a eurorack modular synthesizer.

The rhythms, harmonies and melodies were suggested through the patching algorithm and, by means of the interaction between the modules, performed by the system; truly a collaboration between man and machine. These performances were recorded in a single take with minimal human interaction. There were no overdubs.

The Shared System consists of these Make Noise modules; Maths, DPO, modDemix, Optimix, Erbe-Verb, Echophon, WoggleBug, TEMPI, Brains, Pressure Points, Rene and tELHARMONIC.

The compositions use multiple related clock sources (TEMPI, Wogglebug) that produce envelopes, functions and rhythmic patterns (Maths) and drive two sequencers (Brains+Pressure Points and Rene). The sequencers send pitched control voltages to the two DPO oscillators and the tELHARMONIC, a multi-voice, multi-algorithm sound module. These signals are feed through the Erbe-Verb delay and Echophon reverb modules that add texture, atmosphere and additional audio artifacts.

The two channel output from the instrument was sent through a PreSonus StudioLive mixing console and captured to hard disk using PreSonus Capture 2 at 96 kHz. A Strymon Timeline and Big Sky were used in the signal chain to add additional atmosphere and texture. The resulting tracks were mixed and mastered using PreSonus Studio One.
